Abstract

Activated neutrophils can kill bacteria by entrapping them in neutrophil extracellular trap(NET).NET is composed of chromatin decorated with granular proteins.The deimination of histones by PAD4 mediates the formation of NET-like structures in neutrophils.Citrullinated histones are released to the extracellular space as important part of the neutrophil response to bacterial infections.
