Abstract
Objective To evaluate clinical result of surgical treatment of intra-articular fracture of the calcaneus using calcaneal anatomical titanium plate. Methods From August of 1999 to December of 2004, 24 patients (26 calcaneus fractures) with calcaneal fracture were treated differently based on the result of X-ray and CT scan performed before and after the treatment. Results 24 patients(26 calcaneus fractures),according Sanders classification system, there are 6 cases of type II and 14 cases of type III, and 6 cases of type iV. Infection of incision happened in 4 cases but healed after debridement and administration of antibiotics. The follow-up averaged 23 months. According to the classification of calcaneal fracture by the Maryland, excellent in 8, good in 12, fair 6. The overall excellent and good rate was 77%. Conclusions The internal fixation with the calcaneal anatomical titanium plate to treat intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus can renew the calcaneal configuration and achieve preferable clinical effects.
