Abstract

Objective To establish mouse biliary obstruction model and to study the model dynamically. Methods Forty Balb / c mice were used and divided into experimental group( n = 32) and control group( n = 8). Mice of the experimental group were inflicted with obstructive jaundice through ligation of common bile duct. Mice were sacrificed on the 1st,3rd, 5th,7th days after the ligation to measure bile duct diameter, complete blood count, liver function and to study morphological changes in the liver. Results The levels of common bile duct diameter,MID%,ALT,AST,TBIL,DBIL,ALP and CHOL elevated in association with the time of common bile duct ligation, reached the peak on the third day after surgery, then began to decline. WBC elevated on the first day after surgery, then began to decline. LYM% declined after surgery, to the minimum on the fifth day. Liver cell necrosis increased in association with surgery time. Conclusion The clinical manifestations of this model are similar to those of patients with biliary obstruction and the cycle time of inducing this model is short. This model might be valuable in researching the mechanism of the obstructive jaundice.
