COMBINED TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE WITH WESTERN MEDICINE FOR SEVERE ACUTE PANCREATITIS

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of Chinese traditional medicine plus western medicine in the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis. Methods A retrospective analysis was made for 30 patients with severe acute pancreatitis treated at our department from October, 2001 to February, 2003. Results All the patients were treated non-surgically, in which, 26 of them were cured, one gave up and 3 died. Conclusion The treatment outcome is dramatic by combination use of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine for severe acute pancreatitis.
