Abstract
The effects of solution treatment and aging process on microstructure and mechanical properties of powder hot extruded Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy were investigated by X-ray diffractometer, optical and transmission electron microscope, microhardness and tensile tests. The result shows that a large number of MgZn_2 particles were precipitated from Al matrix during extrusion. The optimal T6 treatment process of the alloy is 460℃×2.5h+120℃×24h.Tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the T6 treated alloy are 731MPa,670MPa and 6.2%,respectively.The reason that the microstructure of T6 treated alloy is similar to that of cast and then extruded Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy after retrogression and reaging(RRA) is mainly attributed to grain refinement.
