Abstract

Objective To study the value of low dose photography in pelvis digital radiography with AEC(automatic exposure control).Materials and Methods 50 patients with pelvic trauma were performed with anterior-posterior pelvic radiography with conventional dose for the first diagnosis, and with low dose for the follow-up.The difference of radiant exposure value and the dose area product (DAP) between the two dose groups of radiography was analyzed. The imaging quality of the two dose groups was also evaluated in term of the subjective grading conducted by a radiologist and a technician according to the European Economic Community Standard. Results The radiant exposure value of the low dose group was 2.48±1.20,which was significantly lower than that of the conventional group (14.78±1.20) (t=13.69,P0.01),similarly,the DAP of the low dose group was 3.63±1.79,which was also significantly lower in comparison with that of the conventional group (10.23±1.69) (t=9.22,P0.01).However,no significant difference in imaging quality was detected between the two dose groups (Manne Whitney U=1175.00,P=0.34).Conclusion The low dose pelvis radiography could reduce markedly the exposure dose, whereas almostly impact the imaging quality.
