Abstract
The reason why Mao Zedong was able to lead the Autumn Harvest Uprising Army to establish the first revolutionary base area in the countryside was that he made an objective appraisal of the revolutionary situation which was at low ebb. He paid much attention to preserving, strengthening and developing the regular army,and made an plan for retreat mountaining in case of future in advance.
