On the Transformation from the Confucianism to Buddhism in Bai Juyi's Thought of Poetry Composition

Abstract

Bai Juyi believes in Confucianism,meanwhile,he is influenced by the thoughts of Buddhism.As other intellectuals who were frustrated,he also experienced a rough life,looking for spiritual hope in the Buddhism,but having some differences.The changes of thought in his whole life,conducting himself in society and his poetry composition are all embodied by Buddhism thoughts.Zen's real meaning is reflected in his Buddhist poems and leisure poems,telling us the different side of Bai Juyi which is rarely known by others.As he writes,the place which makes me feel reassuring is my home.The Buddhism thought was replaced by Confucianism as a shelter of his soul.
