Abstract

Objective To probe into the expressive change of ciliary neurotrophic factor(CNTF) and the relation between exogenous nerve growth factor(NGF) and recover of sciatic function after injury. Methods We adopted rat's model of sciatic damnification. The model was divided into medicament and control group.Every rat was also divided into injury and normal sides group.By immunohistochemical staining, in situ hybridization,we counted the expression of CNTF and studied the change at different times (1d,7d,14d,21d,28d) and analyzed quantificationally by computer images automatic processing system. Results Exogenous nerve growth factor improved the expression of CNTF on rat's spinal anterior horn cells, but no effect on normal sides. Conclusion ①Exogenous NGF improves the level of CNTF in lumbar spinal motor of injury sides, but it has no effect on normal sides.②When sciatical nerve fibres are injuried the level of CNTF in lumbar spinal motor spinal motor neurons decrease gradually during the following 3 weeks and then recover in the 4th week, but not reach normal level.
