Purpose of History Summarization by the Scholars in the Song Dynasty

Abstract

Appraising the world according to past experiences and creating current social prosperity is not only the evaluation to Xin Tang Shu(New Books on Tang Dynasty) by the Emperor Renzong in the Song Dynasty,but also the purpose of history summarization by the scholars in the Song Dynasty.It reflected the inheritance and development of the thoughts of learning from history and ruling the state according to history by the scholars in the Song Dynasty,and demonstrated that the influences of Neo-Confucianism thoughts has surpassed the narrow purpose of questing for practical functions,and developed into a new stage in which they rationally realized the historical evolution and explored ways to rule the state.
