Abstract
Mutagenesis, as a breeding technique to increase the gene mutation, has shown a great potential in pepper breeding. The characteristics and mechanism of irradiation mutagenesis, space mutation and chemical mutagenesis were introduced. The research progresses of Coγ-ray, space mutation and EMS mutagenesis in pepper breeding were emphatically reviewed and the development prospects were also presented.
