Abstract
Detailed field geology, mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry investigations have been made on the quartz diorite porphyry in Shaxi porphyry copper(gold) deposit,Investigation results have shown that the quartz diorite porphyry is the main ore-bearing stock of this deposit and its distribution, evolution and genesis are controlled obviously by the Tancheng-Lujiang deep fault. Mafic minerals of stock are rich in magnesium, titanium, but poor in iron.Chemically, the quartz diorite porphyry is rich in alkali, sodium and LREE and lack of obvious europium negative anomaly. Rb-Sr isochron age of the stock is (127.9±1.6)Ma and ( 87 Sr/ 86 Sr)i ratio equals 0.7058, these data suggest that the quartz diorite porphyry was formed during late Yanshanian and the rockforming materials were originated from upper mantle, but has been contaminated by crustal materials during its ascent process.
