Abstract
Objective To evaluate the changes in corneal aberrations after laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK)for myopic eyes. Methods In a retrospective case study,103 eyes of 53 patients undergone myopic LASIK with an Esiris laser using 6.00~6.75 mm ablation zones were evaluated.Corneal aberrations were obtained preoperatively and 1 week,1 month postoperatively, respectively.Using anterior corneal height data, the changes in corneal aberrations with 5.0 mm,6.0 mm and 7.0 mm diameters were calculated, respectively. Results Comet-like,and spherical-like aberrations and total root-mean square were elevated after LASIK with significant difference between preoperation and postoperation(P0.01)and the parameters showed increasing magnitude with increasing diameter size, but there was no statistical changes between 1 week and 1 month postoperatively(P0.05).Exceptively,total root-mean square decreased postoperatively with diameter of 5.0 mm.Conclusion Corneal aberrations increased with increasing diameter size except for total root-mean square with diameter of 5.0 mm.Corneal aberrations were elevated significantly after LASIK and steady 1 week postoperatively. The research of corneal aberration is significant to obtain a customized design of LASIK.
