Abstract

Objective:To summarize the indications and technique in nonoperative management of splenic injury in blunt abdominal trauma. Methods: A group of 26 cases splenic injury in blunt abdominal trauma were selected by strict indication to undergoing nonoperative treatment splenectomy were performed when condition changed (hemodynamically unstable )by intensive monitoring. Results: 20 patients were recovered successfully by nonoperative treatment.6 patients were adopted splenectomy inevitable. No complications were found due to any of these procedures. Conclusions: Nonoperative treatment were effective and gave better results in properly selected patients. The main factors determining success of nonoperative treatment are complying to general principle of splenic injury ,choosing proper patients according to the classification of the injury and the condition of patients respectively.
