Abstract
6 rice cytoplasmic male sterile(CMS) lines with distinct characters of glume-gaping grains(CGG) were chosen as experimental materials to study the relationship between the flowering habits and the CGG of CMS lines. The results showed that the positive correlations between the three flowering habits(the spikelet opening angle, the spikelet opening duration and the morning flowering rate) and the percentage of heavy glume-gaping grain(HPGG) were significant at the level of 1%.The results by stepwise regression analysis and the path analysis suggested that the high CGG of CMS lines, particularly the HPGG were mainly impacted by the flowering habits(R2= 0.97258),that was as the spikelet opening angle, the spikelet opening duration and the morning flowering rate increasing, both the CGG and the HPGG raised.
