Abstract

As current block-based storage interfaces such as SCSI and ATA/IDE have become an obstacle in storage performance enhancement and management costs decrease,object based storage is designed to address this problem and is on the verge of becoming the next standard storage interface.Object storage enables the creation of self-managed,data-shared,secure and intelligent storage for storage network.This paper designs and implements an object-based storage system prototype,which complies with OSD T10 specification and consists of an initiator,a target and IP network.The communication protocol used in the prototype is iSCSI.And the evaluating result of the prototype’s reading and writing performance indicates that object storage can meet actual industry need well.
