Abstract
The paper demonstrates that high elastic stiffness and excellent energy dissipation of eccentrically-braced steel frame is a lateral load-resisting system applied to the building in the high intensity area. The nonlinear finite element model is stimulated by the combination of the shell element and beam element to make elastic-plastic time history analysis on the K-eccentrically braced steel frames. The paper also investigates the influence of different parameters such as the length of link beam and height-to-thickness ratio of web,as well as the distance of the links stiffness on the seismic behavior of K-eccentrically braced steel frame under the rare earthquake action. Some suggestions are acquired for the structural seismic design.
