Abstract
Objective To examine the role of topical steroids on corneal stromal inflammation induced by photorefractive keratectomy(PRK). Methods Twentyfour rabbits underwent binocular PRK with 6D ablation.Topical steroids FLAREX(contain fluorometholone acetate 1gL-1)was applied to the right eyes,with the left eyes as controls.Polymorphonuclear leukocytes(PMNs) were divided into three groups and killed in 1236 and 72 hours respectively after the surgery. Results As a whole,the number of PMNs in the corneal stroma of experimental groups was significantly less than that of the control groups( P0.01). Conclusion FLAREX can reduce rabbit corneal stromal inflammation early after PRK.
