Abstract
This paper analyzed the sediment distribution in the main rivers in Gansu Province.The areas of water and soil erosion are mainly located in the Yellow River Basin.This paper assessed the water environment quality of surface water,groundwater and water resources quality in the main major rivers.The water quality in the Gansu reach of the Yangtze River is better,the followed are the inland rivers.The river mineralization and total hardness of the Yellow River is highest.The major river reaches of water pollution are mainly located in the important industrial areas,densely populated towns and highly polluted industrial sections,such as paper-making industry,so the task of water resources protection is quite heavy.The assessment provided a scientific basis of decision making for water environment protection and ecological environment protection of the rivers.
