On Strengthening the Cross-culture Education in Foreign Language Teaching

Abstract

The ultimate propose of foreign language teaching is the realization of cross-cultural communication.However,English teaching in China puts more emphasis on teaching the language knowledge itself,and little efforts are made to develop the learners' competence of cross-cultural communication.The issue is not taken seriously in the process of teaching and learning as well as the preparation of teaching materials.To improve students' ability of using English in practice,it is essential to focus on cross-culture education in foreign language teaching.
