Clinical value of ambulatory EEG in the diagnosis of epilepsy

Objective To explore the clinical value of ambulatory EEG(AEEG) in the diagnosis of epilepsy and other diseases.Methods 85 cases of patients with epilepsy was as the observation group,the other 78 cases with non-epileptic paroxysmal disorders as a control group.All the patients were doing the routine,which contains the electroencephalogram(REEG) and AEEG check,compare and analyse the test results.Results In the observation group,the total abnormal rate of REEG is 31(36.47%) while the total abnormal rate of the AEEG is 62(79.49%),the AEEG total abnormal the rate of observation group is 62(79.49%)while the AEEG's total abnormal rate of the control group was 16(20.51%),epileptiform discharges rate awake period(72.5%) was significantly lower than the sleep period(95.0%).the difference was statistically significant between groups(P0.05).Conclusion AEEG has important clinical value in the diagnosis of epilepsy and identify with other diseases.
