Abstract

Growth assessment was carried out in 2.5-year-old comparative trial stand from Eucalyptus grandis families and clones. The growth of clones was generally better than that of families and the growth variance was significant among either the clones or families of E.grandis.The diameter at breast height of the best clone Eg6 was 21% more than that of the poorest clone Eg3,while that of the best family SB2169 was 26%more than that of the poorest family BS10.It suggested the elite tree selection was efficient for E.grandis clone breeding and the superior clone should be selected by clone comparative trial.
