Research on reference range of venous red blood cell measured by automated haematology analyzer for healthy adults in Shangri-la county of Yunnan province

Objective To establish the reference range of venous red blood cell(RBC) measured by automated haematology analyzer for healthy adults in Shangri-la county of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture,Yunnan province.Methods 412 healthy adults were randomly chosen from the above-mentioned area.Their venous blood samples were collected for routine analysis by Beckman-Coulter AC.T diff 2 automated haematology analyzer.The results were analysed statistically and compared with reference materials.Results The ranges of RBC were 4.31-6.54×1012/L in males and 4.15-5.66×1012/L in females.The hematocrits(HCT) were 37.9-61.3% in males and 37.6-50.7% in females.The ranges of hemoglobin(Hb) were 134-202 g/L in males and 124-174 g/L in females.The ranges of mean corpuscular hemoglobin(MCH) were 25.3-36.0 pg in males and 26.2-34.3 pg in females.The ranges of mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration(MCHC) were 306-379 g/L in males and 312-367 g /L in females.The ranges of mean corpuscular volume(MCV) were 76.5-102.6 fl in males and 79.0-99.3 fl in females.Comparing with reference results,RBC,Hb,and HCT increased remarkably(P0.05).There was statistical difference for MCV and MCHC(P0.05),and no statistical difference for MCH(P0.05).Conclusions According to the clinical observation by now,the reference range of venous RBC for healthy adults of Shangri-la county can be applied to medical health practice for clinical diagnosis,treatment and health-examination.
