Re-pondering on the Methodology of Studies in Chinese Philosophy——"Introducing the West into the Chinese" and Its Two Patterns

Since the 20th century,Western philosophy has been employed as conceptual resources in the effort to transform Chinese philosophy into what is called a modern discipline.The approach involved is to be better described as yuanxi ruzhong(introduction of Western philosophy into Chinese philosophy)than as fanxiang geyi(reverse analogical interpretation).The employment of Western philosophical concepts can be both positive and negative,with respective characteristics and contradictory effects.To modern Chinese philosophy(being a comparative philosophy),Western philosophy is resources rather than a burden.The present and future developments in Chinese philosophy can never be found in the elimination of Western elements in modern Chinese philosophy,but in the profound interaction between Chinese philosophy and its Western counterpart or even the total field of Western humanities.Only in this way can yixi jiezhong(one-way interpretation of Chinese traditional texts in Western philosophical discourse)be truly avoided,so to achieve the genuine autonomy of Chinese philosophy on the basis of yizhong weizhu(interpretation mainly in Chinese philosophical discourse)and zhongxi shuangxiang huquan(mutual interpretation of Western and Chinese philosophies).
