Abstract

Objective To find out the distribution of the main rodents and flea population and provide scientific basis for control of plague in border area of Guangxi. Methods The plague surveillance data from 8 counties in border area of Guangxi in 2009 was analyzed. Results Nine species of rodents belonging to three families, two orders and four species of flea population were found in this area.R.norvegicus and Xenopsylla Cheopis were predominant species,R.flavipectus,M.musculus,Suncus murinus,Rattus, and Banolicota were common species. The average density of rodents, the infected rate of rddents with fleas, and index of fleas were 6.54%,9.11%,and 0.17 respectively. The serological detection and pathogenic examination for rodents were all negative.Conclution The results show that there is no plague epidemic in this area, and plague remains in a quiescent stage.
