Abstract
Phyllostachys heterocycla cv pubescens,different from other tree species,has special development law.In order to grasp the development law of underground parts in P.heterocycla,bamboo rhizome and shoot development had been surveyed and analyzed for a long term in Xiangyin County,Hunan Province.The results showed that the key factors affecting bamboo yield and quality were the development conditions of underground parts.Development of bamboo rhizome benefitted from loose,fertility and moist yellow-red soil formed by slate or shale.Bamboo rhizome distributed deeply,and rhizome buds were filled,with strong germinated ability and high shooting rate.Bamboo shoots were strong with high bamboo rate,and new bamboos had large diameter and high canes and high outturn rate.
