Abstract

By surveying the growth of bamboo shoots and young bamboos ofDendrocalamopsis oldhami in Fuan, the center of bamboo ecological distribution inChina, and their growth characteristics were studied. The results showed that therate of bamboo sprouts and the individual weight of bamboo varied at different growthseasons. The young bamboo from coming up out of the ground to growing up from a shootwere measured and the changes of new bamboo groves planted in the alluvial flat ofriver beach were compared. All these provide scientific basis for assets evaluationin bamboo groves.
