Synthesis and Characterization of Phenyl-Hydroxylacetic Acid Rare Earth Complexes at Low Temperature Solid State Reaction and Studies on Luminescence Property of Eu~(3+),Tb~(3+) Complexes

Abstract

Four solid complexes of rare earth with phenyl-hydroxylacetic acid(L) have been synthesized by method of solid state reaction at low temperature.Elemental analysis,rare earth coordination titration and TGA studies suggest that the composition of the complexes is RE(L)3·4H2O[RE=La,Nd,Eu,Tb;L= C6H5CH(OH)COO-].IR spectra and 1 HNMR studies indicated that the ligand(L) is bonded with RE(Ⅲ) by one oxygen atom in the carboxyl group and the oxygen atom in the hydroxyl group.The molar conductivity in DMSO solvent indicates that all complexes are nonelectrolyte.Fluorescence spectra of Eu3+ and Tb3+ complexes and phosphorescence spectra of ligand show that the ligand has sensitized Eu3+ and Tb3+ in fluorescence intensity.
