Abstract

After the Reform Movement of 1898, in order to find a way out for Chinese culture and Chinese society, Kang Youwei interpreted The Analects of Confucius and The Mencius with the humanism, political views and economic thought of the West, which enriched the traditional classics with modern contents. Through the interpretation of the two classics Kang Youwei developed the Confucianism and promoted its modernization.
