Expression of CD_(44)V_6 and Prognosis of Human Breast Cancer

Objective:To analyze the relationship between expression of CD 44 V 6 protein and prognosis in breast cancer.Methods:Expression of CD 44 V 6 protein in 78 patients with breast cancer was detected by immunohistochmistry and antigenretrieving techniques,the relationship between expression of CD 44 V 6 and clinicopathological factors and prognosis was analyzed.Results:The total expression rate of CD 44 V 6 protein was 55.1%(43/78) in the whole group.The expression rate of CD 44 V 6 of breast cancer with axillary lymph nodes positive group (72.7%,32/44) was much higher than that with axillary lymph nodes negative group (32.4%,11/34)( P 0.01).Prognosis of the patients with positive expression of CD 44 V 6 was poorer than that of the patients with negative expression of CD 44 V 6.Conclusion:Expression of CD 44 V 6 protein was closely related to the prognosis of the patients with breast cancer.Expression of CD 44 V 6,metastasis of axillary lymph nodes,tumor size,histological grade and TNM stage were important factors to influence five year survival rate in breast cancer.
