Abstract
In China, economic development in mountainous areas has been playing an important role in the national economic development. It has been proved that eco engineering is an effective approach to realize sustainable development in rural and mountainous areas. Viewing from the principles of eco engineering, the importance of eco engineering for the sustainable development in mountainous areas and some principles and main issues during making out of eco engineering countermeasures are analyzed. At last, taking Wulian County of Shandong Province as an example, the general framework of eco engineering countermeasures and some concrete projects, i.e. eco engineering for industrial adjustment and development, eco engineering for resources utilization and environmental protection are discussed.
