Abstract
Forest gap disturbance, an important small scale disturbance, often occurs in forest community. It drives directly the succession of forest community, and plays a very important role on the forest structure, dynamics and biodiversity. Studies on forest gap have been focused on work related to characteristics, effect and function, gap model. Researches on the forest gap in southwest subalpine coniferous forests is still in the stage of description about the formation, characteristics of gap, and seedlings regeneration. Based on the advance and discussion of coniferous forest gap. The studies of the regeneration and dynamics of gap, forest dynamical model, gap microclimate such as soil and micro- topography, responses of seedling to gap microclimate and relationship between gap and forest management should be emphasized.
