Abstract
A novel core-shell structure fluorine-containing acrylic polymer was prepared by pre-emulsion and semi-continuous seed emulsion polymerization in the presence of β-cyclodextrin(β-CD) using methyl methylacrylate(MMA) and butylacrylate(BA) as main monomers, dodecafluoroheptyl methacrylate(DFHMA) as fluorine-containing monomer.Structure and composition of co-polymer emulsion, the particle size and distribution as well as contact angle to water was characterized by FTIR,TEM,XPS,PSD and CA measurements. The effect of β-CD on monomer conversation was also investigated. The results showed that DFHMA effectively involved in the copolymerization, the obtained emulsion had core-shell structure and good monodispersity, microsphere size was in the nanometer. And particle size increased with the increase of β-CD amount, but particle size distribution decreased firstly and then increased.Conversation increased then decreased with the increase of β-CD amount. In addition, the cotton fabric treated with fluorine-containing copolymer latex exhibited good hydrophobility and contact angle was up to 139°.
