The Development Situation of Recycle Economy in China and Suggestions

Recycle economy is a theory which advocates developing economy on the basis of material-recycling and energy-saving. The recycle economy is a new type of economy which is suitable for the sustainable development in China. In this paper, the concept and characteristics of the recycle economy in China were first introduced. Then the development course of the recycle economy in China was described. According to the characteristics of the cities or regions where State Ecological Industrial Demonstrative Region (SEIDR) was set up to develop the recycle economy in China, the SEIDRs were classified into four types which are resource type, resource depleting type, industrial region type, and other city type of SEIDR. The characteristics and development considerations of the four types of the SEIDRs were analyzed. On consideration of the characteristics and problems for the development of the recycle economy in China, suggestions were recommended which include promoting cleaner production, establishing more suitable laws and regulations for the recovery of resources and the disposal of waste materials, and promulgating the knowledge on the recycle economy.
