Abstract
Objective To analyze the measles epidemic characteristics which may provide scientific evidence for measles control and prevention. Methods The measles case data was collected from the epidemiological investigation and surveillance report system. The descriptive study was adopted to analyze the measles epidemiological characteristic. Results Measles cases had been increased since 2005. The reported measles cases reached 1041 in 2008, and the incidence rate was 16.72/100,000 and decreased to5.1/100,000 and 0.05/100,000 in 2012. Incidence rate in infant 8 months and 15 years old adults were higher than those in other age groups. Age group in infant 8 months accounted for 27.86%, 33.98%, 19.78%, 31.73% and 66.67% in 2008-2012,respectively, and 15 years old adults accounted for 38.14%, 49.51%, 51.65%, 41.35% and 33.33% in 2008-2012, respectively. Conclusion To achieve the goal of measles control and prevention in Jinan, routine immunization needs to be strengthened through additional immunization on some particular areas and age groups besides measles surveillance and higher vaccine coverage.
