Abstract

The effects of Lanthanum (La) on urease and acid phosphatase activities in red soil was studied by soil culture and rice pot experiment. The results showed: in the soil culture experiment, La had stimulative effect on urease activity and the stimulation was strengthened with increasing concentration. In contrast, the element La had no significant effect on acid phosphatase activity. In rice pot experiment, La exhibited strong stimulative effect on urease and acid phosphatase activities. When the concentration 30 mg/kg used, the stimulation was discovered to be significant, indicating that urease and phosphatase activities were effective index of biological effect of rare earth elements.
