Abstract
A novel non-halogen intumeseent flame retardant (IFR), which was prepared by means of microen-capsulation, was applied to the preparation of expansion flame retardant PP. The microencapsulated APP and the effect of IFR on the flame retardance, mechanical properties, thermal stability and morphology of PP were studied. The resulted showed the particle size of the microencapsulated APP was uniformity and compact.Followed with adding into PP by 30 percent of IFR, the flame retardant PP had obvious charring effect and perfect retardancy was obtained with OI of 32; the mechanical properties of the flame retardant PP decreased not too quickly and the compatibility of IFR with PP was improved; the thermal stability of the flame retardent PP was obviously improved.
