Abstract

Objective To investigate the expressions of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) and vascular epithelial growth factor(VEGF)165 in gastric carcinoma and its association with clinicopathological features. Methods The expressions of HIF-1a and VEGF165 protein in 58 gastric cancer and tumor-adjacent normal tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The positive expression rates of HIF-1α protein and VEGF165 in gastric tissue were 74.13% and 77.58%,which were significantly higher than 12.07% and 15.51%,respectively,in the tumor-adjacent normal tissues(P0.05).The expressions of HIF-1α and VEGF165 protein were positively correlated to lymph node metastasis and clinical staging(P0.05).The expression of HIF-1α protein was positively correlated to that of VEGF165 protein(P0.05).Conclusion The high expression of HIF-1 and VEGF165 protein in gastric cancer is closely related to the carcinogenesis, development and lymph node metastasis of gastric caner.Combined detection of HIF-1 and VEGF165 is helpful to the evaluation of biological behaviour of gastric carcinoma.
