Investigation of prevalence of sensitization to aeroallergens in 1376 patiens with allergic rhinitis in Guang Zhou

OBJECTIVE To determine the distribution of commen aeroallergens among allergic rhinitis(AR)patients living in Guang Zhou.METHODS Retrospective analysis of the medical records of skin prick test(SPT) performed in 1376 AR patients.The samples were devided into four groups according to age: 2-7-year-olds,8-12-year-olds,13-18-year-olds and 19-70-year-olds.According to gender the samples were strati?ed on two groups: the males and the females.The important sensitizing allergens were assessed and the positive rate of aeroallergens were compared among the groups.RESULTS The positive rate of aeroallergens was as follows: house dust mite(98.2%),cockroach(37.9%),dog hair(19.4%),cat fur(6.8%),mold I(2.4%),mold IV(1.5%),wormwood(1.3%),guineawood(1.0%),pollen IV(0.9%),pollen I(0.6%).There was significant diference of distribution of cockroach,dog hair and cat fur among the age groups(P0.01).Significant diference of positive rate of single allergen and multiple allergens had been found among the age groups(P0.01).There was no signi?cant diference between male and female patients neither in distribution of aeroallergens nor in single allergen and multiple allergens(P0.05).CONCLUSION The most common allergen in patients with allergic rhinitis in Guangzhou seems to be house dust mite,the second is cockroach and dog hair.The wormwood,guineawoodare and pollen are rare allergen among the allergic rhinitis patients in Guangzhou.With the age growing,the patients are sensitized to more allergens and the positive rate of some allergen are increasing.The distribution of aeroallergens has no correlation with gender.
