Abstract
Aim: To evaluate the status of hypertension knowledge of the residents in an urban community, and provide the strategies and measurements to propagandize hypertension knowledge in risk group. Methods:Cluster sampling method was used to choose the residents over 40 in Anyang Steel Corporation Community as the participants in the investigation.Results: A total of 1 789 participants (738 males and 1 051 females) were examined. The awareness rate of hypertension knowledge was 25.88% in males, and 21.69% in females(χ2=4.24,P=0.04), the awareness rate was raised gradually with education level. In addition, 14.09% of the participants never measured blood pressure, 16.49% did not measure blood pressure in recent year.Conclusion: The population who need hypertension knowledge eduction in the urban community is females and individucals less than 50 years old. The promotion of education level in the whole people will be helpful to hypertension prevention and control.
