Abstract
Objective To evaluate glypican-3 (GPC3) expression in early recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after hepatic resection. Methods 57 patients undergoing hepatic resection of hepatocellular carcinoma were included in this study. GPC3 expression was detected by immunohistochemistry and quantitative real-time RT-PCR. Results GPC3 was highly expressed in the patients with early recurrence. Univariate analysis showed that liver cirrhosis,GPC3,tumor size, vascular invasion, and ALT were the risk factors for early recurrence. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that GPC3,tumor size, and vascular invasion were the independent risk factors. Conclusions High expression of GPC3 may increase the risk of early recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma.
