Abstract

After World War two,urban sprawl from city to suburb in America has brought many negative impacts.By the time,the theory of new urbanism and smart growth came into being.This paper firstly analyzes deeply the core of new urbanism and smart growth,and then concludes their identical points and their different accents.Finally,based on the differences in urban development between America and China,this paper discusses the application of new urbanism and smart growth to Chinese cities.
