Study on the Biological Characteristics of Isolates of Pigeon Paramyxovirus

Abstract

The pathogenicity of a pigeon strain HN9801and XN9906 of pigeon paravirus (PPMV) was tested by different methods. The ICPI of HN9801, XN9906 isolates in 1 day old SPF chickens was 1.2,0.9, IVPI in 6 week old SPF chickens was 0.7,0.5 respectively. Two solates were very virulent to 8 week old young pigeons .There was a good cross protection between HN9801 and XN9906 isolates.
