Abstract

Objective: To study the executive and attention function of patients with depression. Methods: We used the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) and Continue Performance Test (CPT) to study the executive and attention function in 66 patients with schizophrenia, 42 patients suffering from depression, and 50 normal controls. Results: Schizophrenic patients and depressive patients performed worse than the normal controls in WCST (P0.01). Compared with the comparison group, schizophrenic patients but not depressive patients have impaired CPT in have or no interfere stimulus (P0.01). Conclusions: Patients with schizophrenia had both attention and working memory/executive function impairment, patients with depression had the executive dysfunction.
