Abstract
Purpose To investigate the prognostic significance and association of the expression of mutated p53 with Cox-2 protein in lung cancer. Methods The positive expression of mutated p53, Cox-2 and CD34 protein were observed and the microvascular density was evaluated in 116 cases of the tumor. Results Immunohistochemical staining showed that the positive rate of mutated p53 and Cox-2 protein expression were 47 cases (40.52%) and 78 cases(67.24%) of lung cancer. Expression of Cox-2 was related to tumor TNM staging(P=0.014)and lymph nodes metastasis (P=0.006),and that microvascular density in the cases of positive expression was significantly higher than that negative expression(P=0.000). The COX model showed that lymph nodes metastasis(P=0.004)and the positive rates of Cox-2 protein(P=0.000)were factors related to poor prognosis in patients with lung cancer. Conclusion Mutated p53 protein can improve the expression of Cox-2, which can serve as a potential marker of prognosis in lung cancer.
