Abstract

Aim:To determine the expression of α catenin in colorectal cancer tissues and its relation to metastasis. Methods:Seventy eight histologically verified colorectal cancer specimens and their corresponding paracancerous tissues were obtained. SABC Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of α catenin. Results: Compared with paracancerous tissues,α catenin normal expression in colorectal cancer was reduced (100% vs 38.46%).The normal expression of α catenin in tissues with metastasis was lower than that in tissues without metastasis(21.05% vs 55.00%, P 0.05). Conclusion:The low expression of α catenin may correlate to colorectal cancer metastasis.
