Expression of CXCR4 in Thyroid cancer and clinicopathological significance

Abstract

Objective:To study the expression of chemokine receptor(CXCR4) in thyroid cancer and its clinicopathological significances.Methods: S-P immunohistochemical technique was used to test the expression of chemokine receptor(CXCR4) in 51 cases of thyroid cancer and 20 cases of nodular goiter.Results: Expression of CXCR4 in nodular goiter had not been detected.But the positive rates of CXCR4 respectively were 26.3% and 80.0% in human papillary thyroid carcinoma and undifferentiated thyroid carcinoma.The positive rates of CXCR4 respectively were 28.6% and 60.9% in those with cervical lymph node metastasis and in those without metastasis the differences were significant(P0.05).Conclusion: Expression of CXCR4 can reflect the progression metastatic status and prognosis in thyroid cancer and has important clinicopathological significances.
