Abstract

Objective To study the effects of tooth paste with fluoride on enamel remineralization of extracted adolescent teeth. Methods Sixteen sound enamel specimens of extracted adolescent permanent teeth were selected based on the hardness data near 170KNH and they were randomly divided into group A and B(P0.05).The group A was treated by a toothpaste(no-fluoride),while the groups B was treated by a toothpaste with fluoride dentifrice. And all specimens of two groups were soaked in human saliva. The remineralization potential was evaluated using a Microhardness. The data were analyzed using the One-way ANOVA.Results The mean KNH value of group A before remineralization was 151.9±38.3,while that after remineralization was 143.4±18.8(P0.05).The mean KNH value of group B before remineralization was 160.1±16.5,while that after remineralization was 200.5±21.3(P0.05).Furthermore,after remineralization the hardness value of group B was apparently higher than that of group A(P0.001).Conclusion According to the experimental conditions of this study, the toothpaste with fluoride dentifrice is effective in remineralizaion of extracted adolescent permanent teeth.
