Abstract

A new cold vapor generation atomic absorption spectrometry (CVGAAS) method was developed for the determination of mercury with a homemade vapor generator. The experimental parameters were optimized, and the interference of coexisting ions was investigated. The method shows a detection limit of 0.39μg/L (3σ) and the precision (RSD) of 3.2% for 20 μg·L -1 Hg,and was successfully applied to the determination of mercury in wastewater samples with the recoveries in the range from 94% to 104%.
