Abstract
Objective To explore the pregnancy outcome and feasibility of selective single embryo transfer. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the pregnancy outcomes following in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET) among women aged 35 years in the Reproductive Center,Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Hunan Province from January 2007 to October 2010.The patients were divided into group A(selective single embryo transfer,39 embryo transfer cycles,n=39) and group B(single embryo transfer,86 embryo transfer cycles,n=86).And the difference of pregnancy outcomes was compared and analyzed between the two groups. Results Age,infertility time, basic FSH values, number of retrieved oocytes, embryo number and excellent blastomere embryos, endometrial thickness on HCG day and E2 value, clinical pregnancy rate, and abortion rate of groups A and B were(28.89±3.223) year-old and(34.01±4.809) year-old;(4.31±2.776) years and(6.30±5.332) years;(5.5±2.256) IU/L and(10.26±3.757) IU/L;(5.42±2.649) and(1.75±0.324);(10.58±3.46) and(5.39±2.45);(1.42±0.649) and(1.75±0.724);(1.25±2.965) mm and(10.02±1.962) mm;(10,132±4,303) pmmol/L and(5,982±2,108) pmmol/l;46.15%(18/39) and 27.91%(24/86);22.22% and 37.5%.The average age, infertility time, the basis of FSH values, and the number of retrieved oocytes in group A were significantly lower than those of group B,and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).E2 values on HCG day and clinical pregnancy rate in group A were significantly higher than those of group B,and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).No statistically significant difference was found in the number of blastomeres of embryos transferred, endometrial thickness on HCG day, spontaneous abortion rate between groups A and B(P0.05),but spontaneous abortion rate of group A(22.22%) was lower than that of group B(37.50%). Conclusions For the patients aged 35 years, with normal ovarian reserve, selecting high-quality D3 single-embryo transfer could reach a higher clinical pregnancy rate and reduce the multiple pregnancy rate.
